West Swindon Tag Rugby tournament

Children from Yr 6 took part in the West Swindon Tag Rugby tournament held at Greendown Secondary School. Despite the freezing conditions and occassional snow shower, the children played magnificently and had a fantastic time, emerging as the overall winners!

The first match kicked off with a game against Shawridge B. With superb team-work, slick passing and impressive attacking skills, the children won the match 8 - 2. The children were deligthed and recognised the contribution and work rate everyone must put in in order to defend effectively and put pressure on the opposition. This understanding translated very well into the next match as Shawridge A proved to be much sterner opposition! The children once again played extrememly well and managed to win the game 9 - 6.

The final game against Westlea proved to be the tournament decider as both teams had won all of their matches coming in to the game. The match itself proved to be a a thrilling encounter with both teams playing exceptionally well. Neither team managed to gain the upper hand, as when one team scored, there was an immediate response by the other! With the match drawing to its conclusion, Brookfield managed to get that all important score ahead and when the final whistle blew, all the children were delighted with narrow victory of 11 - 10! Huge congratulations must go to Maciek Stepien, Georgie Gibson, Cameron Forsyth, Sophie Cocoran, Luke Stoneham, Joe Hooper, Emilia Grey, Jack Hutchinson and Emma Whelan. These children will now represent Brook Field and the West of Swindon at the area finals, taking place later in the year. Congratulations!!
