Magazine | Eco SchoolsThe Government in England wants every school to be a sustainable school by 2020. The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) launched their Sustainable Schools Framework in 2006 when the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Alan Johnson MP set out challenging long-term aspirations for schools to mainstream learning about sustainable development issues and sustainable practices into everyday school life. Eco Warriors - What can we do at Brook Field? Our Eco Team came up with these actions to help develop the range of plants, insects and animals.
Our Eco Warriors are pictured above at their first meeting Brook Field Eco Launch Assembly Tuesday 21st October 2008
With 400 children all dressed in green we had a fabulous morning (see above) sharing the Eco work that we have been doing in our classes. There were green footprints, an Eco rap, eco friendly rules, butterfly garden designs, polar experiments, drama and much more. It was also our first opportunity to introduce the voted members of the Eco Action team - our 'Eco Warriors'. They have chosen our Eco code and shared it with the school. The assemblies ended with a great eco song 'Reduce, Recycle and Reuse'. Year Two demsontrated to some cool actions for this song! Hedgehog home
